Then she joined in the Seattle Reign FC now OL Reign of the National Women's Soccer League NWSL created after the WPS broke up. Rapinoe was one of the league's most prolific scorers and ultimately became captain. The debut of Rapinoe at the FIFA Women's World Cup took place in 2011. Her contribution to the tournament have helped her team U.S. team win consecutive Women's World Cup championships in 2015 and 2019. In 2018, she was appointed cocaptain. At the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo Japan delayed until 2021 because of the COVID-19 epidemic. Rapinoe scored two goals in the bronze medal game when the United States defeated Australia by an aggregate score of 4-3.
